$100,000 Community Grant Now Open

The McDonald’s Mackay Flagon and Dragon Community Grant submission period is now open. Community Groups & Organisations with a focus on health, well-being and future of local children and young people are now invited to submit applications for funding.

The biennial local fundraising event has raised over 1.3 million dollars since 1992 for our local children’s hospital wards, Ronald McDonalds House Mackay project and other organisations dedicated to the welfare of children and youth of the district.

Application form and criteria is now available on the Flagon & Dragon website.

Gold Sponsor McDonald’s Mackay owner Niki Ramsay says it was a no brainer to jump on board and support Flagon & Dragon after seeing what it has done in the past for children & families.

“As a young mother of three children I can see firsthand the benefit of being involved in the Flagon & Dragon fundraisers, and I am very proud for McDonalds Mackay to be a part of it.” Niki Said.

Flagon & Dragon Chair Kelly Cacciola says she could not be prouder of the funds raised at the 2017 luncheon.

“Our expectations were definitely exceeded. We once again managed to raise over $200,000 in one afternoon. Funds go towards equipment purchases at our local children’s hospital wards and the development of a Ronald McDonalds Family Rooms here in Mackay. The remainder will be split between other local worthy causes.”

“Flagon & Dragon raises significant funds for the Children of the region. The Committee members donate their time & knowledge, enabling 100% of the funds raised to be donated locally to assist with the health of our local kids.” Kelly Said.

In October 2017, the McDonald’s Mackay Flagon & Dragon Luncheon raised over $200,000 thanks to the generous support of the Mackay Community & event sponsors. Flagon & Dragon Chair Kelly Cacciola confirmed there is $100,000 available to community groups that meet the objective & criteria of the club.

“Without our valued sponsors – McDonald’s Mackay, Mackay Land Sales, Brown & Bird, Crokers Fuel & Oil, NQBE, Woollam Constructions & The Daily Mercury this event could not take place. We hope that the community supports those businesses who continue to sponsor local events that truly benefit our region.” Kelly Said.

The Application Form, which includes funding criteria and requirements, is available here. Only those applications which meet the criteria will be taken into consideration and viewed by the Flagon & Dragon Committee.

Applications close 15th June 2018.
